Jameson Whiskey Distillery Tour and Show

Earlier in the day, we took my middle daughter, Adrienne, to the airport and dropped off the rental car we had for our side trip. We got our second rain since we've been here. It was just a light rain, and didn't last very long. The first time it rained, a few days before, it was overnight, so we didn't actually see it. As I've said before, the weather has been absolutely fabulous.

Saturday night, we took a tour of the Old Jameson Whiskey Distillery. This distillery is no longer in use as an actual distillery. It is only to show tourists how the whiskey was made. Along with the tour was whiskey tasting, three course dinner, and a show of traditional Irish music and Irish dancers. The first three pictures are the process of making Irish Coffee.

First--sugar and whiskey are put into the glass.
Second--hot coffee is added to the whiskey/sugar mixture, and stirred well to dissolve the sugar.
Third--cream is poured into a spoon (or over the back of the spoon) to assure it lies on top of the whiskey/coffee. Then drink and enjoy.
Olivia and Erica enjoying a mixed drink with Jameson's, which was more fruit than alcohol.
It was really good, like having dessert!

Two of the three stills used to distill Jameson's Whiskey. It is triple distilled.
Olivia and Erica at our table. (The dance stage is in the background).
First course was a choice between this: black pudding with onion relish and blue cheese topping and salad, or.........
Butternut squash and herb soup, both accompanied by herb-flavored rolls and Irish brown bread. Both were good, even the black pudding. We've decided that if you put enough highly flavored good stuff on top of black pudding, it doesn't matter what it is. (And if you forgot, black pudding is made from pig's blood....ewwww...cooked, of course).

Second course was a choice between haddock and a dill sauce with potatoes and veggies, or.......
Marinated free range chicken with a tomato-basil sauce, and potatoes and veggies.

The third course was a caramelized lemon tart with Jameson chantilly cream. Unfortunately, it was served during the show, and I forgot to get a photo of it. You'll just have to use your imagination.  All the food was excellent!
These were the musicians for our show. Brian on the far right, playing bass guitar; Mickey Mac on the acoustic guitar; and Kevin on the violin. They were very engaging with the audience, going around to all the tables, asking where everyone was from. They sang almost all traditional Irish pub songs, except for the last two, which were old school American.
Two of the three dancers, Gayle and Sandra.
They were moving pretty fast and the light was dim, so the movement blurred. The guy's name was David.
Gayle, David, and Sandra. They were very good.
 The fancy footwork.
Mickey Mac, playing an old traditional Irish instrument, called a bodhran (pronounced bay-ran, or bow-ran).

Towards the end of the show, the dancers selected some people from the audience to do some dancing on stage. Erica was selected. Sorry, I didn't get a picture of that either. But we have it in a movie. We really had a great time!
